Zed Editor

I’ve heard about Zed Editor for a while and I did downloaded it and tried it out. I found that it was fast but didn’t really think that it was much faster than Neovim. I did not end up using it because I’m so used to my NeoVim setup.

This week, I had to do some work on a compiled main.js file from a fairly large project and it was 3.3Mb. I opened it in Neovim and it was struggling and everything just lagged and unable to find the specific text I was looking for. So I decided to open it in Zed and it was super fast. Working on the large file was no difference in working on a small file and the search was just as responsive.

I’ll have to say I’m impressed with the speed of Zed. But still not my go to editor but useful when working on large files.
